All people who are interested in the Loretto in KC story and/or family are most welcome to register. To join, just click on "Contact Us" at the left. Send your (maiden) name and class year (just leave it blank if you're a teacher or guest) and we'll put you on the list. After your name is on the list, you can click on it and sign up for real. 

 

Spring Gathering 5 June!

The Event is taking shape nicely. Sat. 5 June will be a picnic at 12411 Wornall Rd. It's pretty low key (and low cost), which means it's not catered... i.e. BYOStuff. We'll have a grill, so you can throw brats/burgers/dogs on while the kids fly kites, run around see our old school and tromp through the woods. We'll fly rockets, chew the fat, generally have fun and catch up on the past year. 

As part of the "thank you" to the Lutherans for letting us use their facilities (which they normally charge a lot of $ for), we will have a spruce up the grounds day on Sunday 6 June. They generally won't ask much, but to take care of Nelda's flower bed, pull plants, trim hedges etc.

 Sr. Eleanor's Discovery Trails project made the list on the Pepsi website for March. Basically Sr. Eleanor retraces parts of the settlers' journey heading west each year with blind teens. Of course, to do this she needs funding, which she has applied for at Pepsi. Basically, the more votes she gets, the greater the chances of getting the $$. It took me 37 sec. to click through things -- can you spare a tiny snippet of your time today to help kids and one of our own? You can vote every day in March to make an impact. 

 

Here's what to do:
1.  go to http://refresheverything.com
2.  using the search spot in the upper right corner, search for "blind teens"
3.  ours is probably the first on the list "get blind teens together with Indians..."
4.  click on the "Vote for this idea" button on the right--the first day you do this, you will be asked to create an id; after the first day, you will be asked to sign in.
5.  after you vote, note that the right hand column suggests ways to send the info to lists on your facebook, twitter, etc.

The Documentary is currently in the "Historical Search" phase. If you have any stills or film footage from either location, please pass it on. The next stage will be to interview people... we're looking for volunteers to help with this.

Note the next "Big" general reunion will be 2012. This will be a 2-day event for all years for both Loretto Academy and Loretto in KC alumni. One event will be at 12411 Wornall, the other will be at "The Loretto" at 39th & Roanoke. We will be celebrating the 200th Jubilee of the Sisters of Loretto.
